Well, these people are pretty dumb. There is no critical reasoning going on hear, for example. If the guy had been seeking to take the spotlight off of Alice, he almost certainly would have done so when others were in the spotlight as well. He did not, therefore, concern must have been the motive: Why would an activity that shows no concern for reason have any value at all?
